We are very regretful to inform you that the 4th International Workshop on Nano-Micro Thermal Radiation (NanoRad 2020) in Shanghai, China, will be postponed to 2021, due to rapidly escalating health concerns relating to the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19). We recognize that this decision will cause inconvenience to many of you. However, it was made out of our deep concern for the health and well-being of all speakers, contributors, attendees and all others in our thermal radiation community.

We sincerely hope you could still participate, contribute and present your works in the NanoRad 2021 conference. For the accepted abstracts, we will still keep them as contributed presentations in NanoRad 2021 by default. If you have not submitted your abstracts, we sincerely invite you to submit your works. Our official website and abstract submission link will also remain open. The new deadlines will be announced soon. If you have any problems, please do not hesitate to contact us through the official email of the Conference Secretariat: nanorad2020@sjtu.edu.cn.

We will follow up soon to finally set the concrete date, which will be probably in the summer of 2021. It would be much appreciated if you could send me your comments and suggestions.

Let us stay in touch to look forward to meeting each other in NanoRad 2021 in Shanghai and hope that you and your families have a good health!

Welcome to NanoRad 2020

In the past three decades, the study on nano/microscale thermal radiation has made great progress with the development of nanoscience and nanotechnology, and received significant attention due to its potential application to thermal imaging, energy harvesting, nanomanufacturing, heat flow regulation and local heating below the diffraction limit. Also, by understanding the mechanism of nano-microscale thermal radiation, the performance of various devices can benefit from the modification of reflection, transmission, absorption and emission spectra using micro / nanostructures.

The International Workshop on Nano-Micro Thermal Radiation (NanoRad) has provided an opportunity for leading scientists and young researchers around the world to discuss and exchange the research ideas, recent findings and discoveries, and future outlooks in the field of nano-radiation. Following the First International Workshop held in May 2012 in Matsushima, Japan, NanoRad has been held subsequently in 2014 in Shanghai, China and 2017 in Daejeon, South Korea. The fourth International Workshop on Nano-Micro Thermal Radiation (NanoRad 2020) will be held on June 22-24, 2020, in Shanghai, China. There will also be a short course on Nano-Microscale Thermal Radiation to convey the fundamentals, applications and trends in this field on June 20-22, 2020.
