Prof. Xianfan Xu
Speaker biography:
Xianfan Xu is the James J. and Carol L. Shuttleworth Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University. His current research interests are in the areas of nanoscale energy transport, nano-optics and laser-based nano-optical engineering. He was a member of the Editorial Board Scientific Reports and an associate editor of Optics Express. Prof.Xu was a recipient of the 2014 ASME Heat Transfer Memorial Award.
Prof. Pramod Reddy
Speaker biography:
Prof. Pramod Reddy is a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering of University of Michigan. He received a B. Tech and M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay in 2002, and a Ph.D in Applied Science and Technology from the University of California, Berkeley in 2007. He is a recipient of the NSF CAREER award in 2009, and the DARPA Young Faculty Award in 2012 and the Young Alumnus Achiever Award of IIT Bombay in 2016. Prof. Pramod Reddy’s research areas include nanoscale charge and energy transport, thermoelectric devices, microscale heat transfer, organic photovoltaics, scanning probe microscopy and optics.
Prof. Zubin Jacob
Speaker biography:
Dr. Jacob is an associated professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering of Purdue University. He serves on the editorial board of Scientific Reports (a journal by the nature publishing group) and Journal of Optics (UK Institute of Physics). He is the technical chair of the metamaterials sessions at Meta 2015 New York and serves on the scientific committee of multiple international conferences. Dr. Jacob was invited to present his group’s recent achievements at over 20 leading nanophotonics conferences worldwide during 2013 and 2014. Dr. Jacob’s research areas include nanophotonics, thermophotovoltaics, nanoscale radiative heat transfer, metamaterials, plasmonics, quantum optics, super-resolution imaging, and Casimir physics.
Prof. Yong Shuai
Speaker biography:
Dr. Shuai is a full professor in the School of Energy Science and Engineering at Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) in Harbin, China. His current research interests are in the areas of solar energy utilization, micro/nanoscale energy conversion and transfer, and radiative heat transfer. He was a recipient the 2013 Program for New Century Excellent Talents in Ministry of Education of China, the 2013 Youth Top-notch Talent Support Program in HIT, the 2015 Outstanding Youth Science Foundation of NSFC, and the 2016 Youth ChangJiang scholar .
Prof. Achim Kittel

Prof. Dr. Achim Kittel is a professor of Department of Physics at Carl von Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg, Germany. His research has resulted in more than 100 publications, including 103 journal papers, one book and 8 book chapters and has been cited more than 1800 times. His research activities are mainly on the Nanomaterials, Nanoscale Heat Transfers and Near-Field Radiation Heat Transfer, Thin Films and Nanotechnology.
Prof. Bong Jae Lee

Dr. Bong Jae Lee is an associate professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). Prior to joining KAIST, he has worked in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science at the University of Pittsburgh as an Assistant Professor for three years. Dr. Bong Jae Lee is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). Prior to joining KAIST, he has worked in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science at the University of Pittsburgh as an Assistant Professor for three years.
